A Cross-Cultural Teepee

You might think this teepee was cross-cultural because it has a Bernese Mountain dog lying in front of it, and Berners are from a specific canton in Switzerland.

But that’s just the beginning.

Instead of buffalo robes on the floor, there’s a queen sized bed with two bedside tables and a stack of books, five pillows, heavy old sheets and a carpet.  It’s like heaven.  Do you remember Voltaire’s Candide (1759) where Pangloss kept saying ”This is the best of all possible worlds, and couldn’t possibly be any better”?  He might have been dreaming about this teepee.

Please do tell more about the cross-cultural teepee. What is its purpose? Who can or does sleep there? It’s beautiful and I bet heavenly to sleep in.

Love the Berner too! One of my vet’s assistant has 6 of them and his other assistant has 3! All resuce dogs - they are so awesome!

Barb, it’s a guestroom on a friend’s property. I’m trying to blog without invading people’s privacy, so when you ask who sleeps there, I can only answer… visitors. Alice

Alice - Thanks for the infomation. I completely understand about the privacy issue. It’s just so unusual - I didn’t even imagine it as a guestroom. It’s really quite amazing. Your friend’s guests/visitors are really quite lucky - how much fun that must be to sleep in. I live in a very urban area, so a teepee is, well . . . not something you would ever expect. That’s one of the reasons your blog is so interesting! Thanks!

By the way, have you had a chance to sleep in it? Just curious???

Barb, I haven’t, but when I took these shots I realized that I should make the time before it gets cold. Alice

I have some questions about the Teepee. What do you do about rain? That is a gorgeous Bed, how does it not get wet? I saw thematerial covering the bottom of the poles inside. Does that have something to do with it? Also what about the hole at the top? That teepee is beautiful.

The top flaps of the teepee can be closed to keep rain out, and the bed is covered with a plastic tarp every time it rains. Pretty rigorous! Alice
