I built a new garden bed last fall. Bob wanted a visual transition between the house and the field, and I thought it was an anti-deer bed: the deer herd would learn to stay behind this bed, and not browse the house gardens.
This photo was taken in earliest spring at the moment of its mulching,
and this is a recent picture of the bed. You can see that it’s coming along. Mostly the deer stay behind it… but they’re cooperating because of the dog, not the deer. I tried, but I’m sorry to say that I don’t think these mule deer are trainable.

There are lots of deer around here who wonder into the neighborhood from the forest. What is an anti-deer bed? I think I could use one.
I’m laughing at myself. I just read the bottom of the blog. I guess I need a dog!
